‘hold my hand.’
For those who may not know, Kevin went to his final resting place on Friday morning. He fought hard and so beautifully for 3.5 years to throw punches at ALS, and he won the war. Kevin Geraghty was a lot of things: a son, brother, uncle, husband, nephew, and friend. He was also my favorite person.
Kevin could say something from two rooms away that only I would hear and laugh so hard tears would stream down my face. I can still hear him walking into the house and saying “Hi Bear” every single night. I can see his smile when I would lovingly bicker with him, his dad, or his buddies who loved to get a rise out of me. I can hear his laugh and feel the hands I held every single night. I get into bed and hear him say, “Bear, should we do hands?” which was his way of saying “hold my hand”.
We are all still reeling from this loss and working on arrangements that will celebrate his life in the best way. In the meantime, here is a video of Kevin and me from our wedding party. I have watched it on repeat for three straight days, and there is no better way to define him. Kevin, I love you.
